About the Role
Cashiers serve as vital customer service representatives by delivering prompt, courteous, precise, and safe transaction processing. Their duties include handling checkout and return transactions and overseeing the Self-Checkout section. They actively enhance their product and project knowledge to advise customers effectively and recognize potential sales opportunities.
Cashiers strictly adhere to company policies and procedures to reduce shrinkage. The Head Cashier role involves placing Cashiers in appropriate positions and supporting them through tasks such as expediting price verifications, authorizing point-of-sale transactions and markdowns across multiple areas including main registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
Additionally, Head Cashiers act as the first responder to customer escalations, assist with the supervision, coaching, and training of Front End Associates by helping onboard new Cashiers, and use available resources to mentor and develop team members. Ideally, candidates for the Head Cashier role have a minimum of one year of experience as a Cashier.
