Job Overview
The Care Assistant serves as a supportive team member to the shift lead, primarily focusing on assisting the nurse and manager in charge to maintain a secure and comfortable environment for service users at our Lindisfarne facility.
Key Duties
- Provide personal and social care by preparing the setting before new client admissions and attending to carers and visitors courteously.
- Ensure safety for vulnerable service users, aiding them with personal clothing and possessions according to home policies.
- Assist nurses by following instructions related to care plans and participate in first aid and resuscitation measures as needed.
- Maintain the living environment by managing housekeeping tasks, including food service, meal assistance, hygiene, and adherence to special diets, monitoring fluid intake appropriately.
- Enforce food hygiene standards and help uphold safe heating and noise levels in the home.
- Be familiar with fire safety procedures, assist in cleaning clinical areas, correct waste disposal, and maintain equipment readiness.
- Prepare and replenish personal spaces before admission or after discharge, ensuring stock levels of supplies such as towels and soap are maintained.
- Support clerical responsibilities, including documenting service user property, reporting damage to furnishings or equipment, maintaining care records under nurse supervision, and handling communication tasks.
- Promote effective internal and external communication and contribute to flexible work schedules supporting 24-hour care.
