Overview
This contractual opportunity is based in Toronto, ON with hybrid onsite working flexibility. The role focuses on maintaining and improving trading and order management systems for a leading global commercial real estate services firm. The contract lasts for 12 months with potential for extension or conversion to full-time employment. Standard working hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and the remuneration is C$65 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and optimize trading platforms such as ThinkFolio and Bloomberg AIM/PORT to ensure efficient operation and improved user experience.
- Act as the main contact for resolving system inquiries and provide support for front, middle, and back office teams across various asset classes.
- Analyze and interpret business requirements to refine system workflows and data specifications aligning with operational strategies.
- Extract, verify, and analyze data from diverse systems to maintain accuracy and consistency in trading and operations data.
- Create and update reports, dashboards, and analytics tools that aid in business decision-making and performance oversight.
- Identify process improvement possibilities through automation and enhanced data workflows using SQL, Python, Excel, and similar technologies.
- Monitor data streams for irregularities and collaborate with technology and operational partners to resolve issues proactively.
- Support system-related projects including upgrades and enhancements through testing, implementation, and verification phases.
- Document system procedures, data definitions, and workflows to assist with audits and organizational knowledge sharing.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external vendors to ensure systems are current with business and industry standards.
- Participate in continuous process optimization by utilizing data-driven insights to enhance efficiency and governance.
Experience & Skills
- 3 to 5 years in data analytics, financial systems, or business analysis roles.
- Proficiency in dashboard and report development tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
- Solid background working with financial data, portfolios, or within trading environments.
- Hands-on skills in SQL, Python programming, and advanced Excel.
- Experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
- Strong data validation, quality assurance, and data governance knowledge.
- Ability to convert business needs into data requirements and technical specifications.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Clear communication of technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Keen attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
- Self-driven, solution-focused approach with multitasking capabilities.
- Effective collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, or specialized trading platforms.
- Familiarity with predictive analytics, machine learning, or advanced analytical techniques.
- Exposure to automation technologies including VBA, scripting, or APIs.
- Knowledge of asset management, portfolio analysis, or capital markets.
- Work experience in Agile methodology environments using tools such as Jira.
