About Girls' LEAP
Girls' LEAP is a nonprofit organization serving the Greater Boston area with a mission to break the cycle of violence. It does this by teaching girls that they have the right to be safe and, when needed, to protect themselves. The organization centers on helping girls between 8 and 18 years old build the practical skills they need to safeguard their emotional and physical wellbeing.
By working with local schools and community centers, Girls' LEAP runs empowerment and self-defense programs that are designed to strengthen confidence, resilience, and leadership. The organization views empowerment as an essential part of violence prevention and is committed to helping girls grow up free from harm. In addition, Girls' LEAP connects with the wider community through events and initiatives that promote women’s leadership and advance its mission.
Role Overview
As a Board Member, you will contribute strategic direction, governance, and oversight to support Girls' LEAP’s mission across Greater Boston. This position includes attending recurring virtual board and committee meetings, reviewing organizational performance, and helping guide long-range strategy, policies, and priorities.
Key Responsibilities
You will work closely with executive leadership and other leaders to provide input on programs, partnerships, and organizational decisions. The role also involves supporting strong financial stewardship, ensuring compliance, and helping the organization make informed decisions that align with its goals.
In addition, you will take part in fundraising efforts, donor relationship-building, and community outreach. You may also attend events that increase visibility, strengthen community connections, and expand the organization’s impact. As a representative of Girls' LEAP, you will help build trust with stakeholders and promote a safe, empowering environment for the girls the organization serves.
Additional Information
This role is based in Greater Boston and involves participation in regular virtual board and committee meetings. It is a leadership position focused on governance, outreach, fundraising, and advancing the organization’s mission.
