Band 5 Rotational Physiotherapist

Position Overview

We are seeking Band 5 Physiotherapists to join a comprehensive and permanent rotational scheme covering various clinical areas such as respiratory care, surgery and intensive care, neurology, outpatient and hydrotherapy services, orthopaedics, rheumatology, elderly care, and general medicine.

Participants will engage in an on-call training program supported by simulation training, fostering a supportive professional environment. The therapies department continuously advances with innovative projects and offers monthly Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions for all therapy staff. Each specialty rotation includes specific in-service training and competency assessments. Additionally, a multidisciplinary preceptorship program supports newly qualified physiotherapists during their first year.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake rotational assignments providing physiotherapeutic assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to patients presenting with a range of complex physical and psychological conditions.
• Manage an independent caseload within defined service areas or patient cohorts, operating under supervision that includes formal training, clinical reasoning sessions, peer reviews, and case conferences.
• Contribute to emergency on-call duties and weekend rotas, with some rotations involving varied working hours.

Candidate Profile

• Ideal for newly qualified physiotherapists, those nearing qualification, or therapists with limited experience seeking to develop in acute settings across multiple specialties.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills in assessing and treating patients across diverse clinical areas relevant to the rotation.
• Capable of prioritizing workload effectively.
• Holds or is applying for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Possesses a diploma or degree in physiotherapy.
• Has prior experience in acute and outpatient services through work or placements.
• Understands and applies evidence-based practice.
• Experienced in collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
