Backup Administrator – Commvault / Veeam

About the Role

We are seeking a proficient Backup Administrator to be part of our Data Center Operations team. The chosen individual will oversee enterprise backup and recovery systems, ensuring continual business operation, data protection, and high availability for critical infrastructure components. This opportunity targets professionals experienced in managing Commvault Backup & Recovery alongside virtualization platforms, storage technologies, and disaster recovery procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee backup and recovery tasks enterprise-wide using Commvault.
• Validate backups and handle restore operations for files, virtual machines, databases, and applications.
• Investigate and resolve backup failures, maintaining success rates that conform with organizational SLAs.
• Set up and administer Commvault components including CommServe, Media Agents, Storage and Backup Policies, Libraries, Deduplication, and Client Settings.
• Conduct upgrades, patch management, and lifecycle upkeep of the Commvault infrastructure.
• Track storage use, backup efficiency, and deduplication performance metrics.
• Contribute to disaster recovery plan creation, testing of backup strategies, and business continuity efforts.
• Manage cloud-based backup storage integrations.
• Create detailed reports on operations, compliance adherence, and root cause analyses.
• Guarantee backup environments meet security, retention, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate intensively with infrastructure, storage, virtualization, and database teams to support enterprise platforms.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or an equivalent field.
• Between 3 to 5 years of practical experience in administering Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery.
• Proven expertise supporting enterprise-scale backup operations.
• Experience executing backup and restore activities in both physical and virtual settings.
• Background working in enterprise data center environments.
• Technical proficiency in areas including Commvault Backup & Recovery, Windows and Linux server administration, VMware or Hyper-V backup integration, SQL Server and Oracle database backup, SAN/NAS storage, and cloud backup solutions.
• Knowledge of backup lifecycle management, disaster recovery principles, data deduplication methods, storage system administration, compliance standards, and backup troubleshooting techniques.

Preferred Certifications

• Commvault Certified Professional (CCP), Engineer (CME), or Administrator (CSA).
• ITIL Foundation certification.
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
• Relevant Microsoft certifications.
