Automation Technician

About the Role

GETP Holding is currently seeking experienced Automation Technicians to strengthen our maintenance team in Mesaieed, Al Wakrah, Qatar. We require three qualified professionals with proven expertise in the Oil and Gas, fertilizer, or petrochemical sectors. This position involves ensuring the optimal operation, safety, and efficiency of plant automation systems through various maintenance and project activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks including routine, preventive, corrective, shutdown, and breakdown work on automation and safety instrumented systems.
• Lead commissioning and start-up procedures for new automation projects and system upgrades.
• Maintain Safety and Automation Systems to guarantee safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
• Hold safety briefings (toolbox talks) prior to job execution and ensure availability and use of necessary tools and safety equipment.
• Complete maintenance duties punctually while adhering to quality guidelines.
• Manage Industrial Control System (ICS) computer maintenance involving antivirus installations, Microsoft security patches, OS configuration, and basic troubleshooting of hardware and software.
• Ensure all automation assets meet industrial cybersecurity standards.
• Assist in installation, testing, and commissioning of ICS system upgrades and new projects.
• Adhere strictly to Life Saving Rules (PSa-001) and all company health, safety, and environmental policies.
• Participate in on-call rotations providing maintenance support beyond regular hours.
• Contribute to meeting departmental key performance indicators and continuous improvement programs.
• Comply with Integrated Management System protocols including Occupational Health & Safety, Quality, Environment, Responsible Care, IFA Product Stewardship, and Energy Management.

Technical Expertise Required

• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), including platforms such as Honeywell TDC 3000, Honeywell Experion PKS, Honeywell FSC & Safety Manager, Triconex Safety Systems, Siemens S7 PLC, and Allen-Bradley PLC.
• In-depth knowledge of turbo machinery control and protection systems including Bently Nevada Vibration & Axial Monitoring, CCC Anti-Surge Control, Triconex ITCC, Jaquet Overspeed Protection, Woodward Electronic Governors, and GE Mark VI & Mark VIe Gas Turbine controls.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Engineering specialized in Instrumentation, Electronics, Automation, or related fields, with a program duration of 2 to 5 years.
• At least 6 years of direct professional experience working in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Fertilizer industries.
• Familiarity with SAP Enterprise Asset Maintenance (EAM) Work Order system is advantageous.

Additional Knowledge

• Capability in computer hardware and software maintenance.
• Skill in troubleshooting Industrial Control Systems (ICS).
• Understanding of industrial networking principles.
• Awareness of industrial cybersecurity requirements and best practices.
