Automation Manufacturing Engineer

Position Summary

Primary Duties

• Pursue excellence vigorously in all assigned tasks.
• Contribute creatively and proactively as part of the management team with a focus on continuous process enhancements.
• Lead and direct Manufacturing Engineering Technicians (METs) monitoring machinery and production line performance, providing guidance to optimize machine and process efficiencies.
• Train METs and Manufacturing Engineering Assistants in areas including equipment upkeep and repairs, machine programming enhancements, and creation of part-data (PD) files.
• Collaborate closely with Line Supervisors, Machine Support Manager, and Manufacturing Engineers to identify and implement corrective measures that enhance machine efficiency and product yield.
• Develop, document, and maintain procedures that safeguard ongoing operational excellence plant-wide.
• Offer expert advice to METs and Machine Support Technicians regarding machine adjustments, maintenance, and repairs as needed.
• Manage the MET duties coverage in your plant during absences due to factors like leave or training, and potentially step in to fulfill critical functions when necessary.
• Support Manufacturing Engineers to achieve peak process performance, including assisting with processes such as I.R. reflow and wave solder profiling, solder paste screen printing, tooling design and manufacture, and recommending design for manufacturing (DFM) improvements.
• Ensure regular backups and data integrity for program files and PD across all lines within assigned plants.
• Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Proficient in delivering clear information and responding effectively to questions from management teams, clients, and customers.
• Strong analytical abilities including problem definition, data gathering, fact finding, and making logical conclusions.
• Competent in personal computer operation, especially with Windows operating systems and associated software.
• Advanced proficiency with PC and specific training in Jabil’s software tools.
• Capable of composing simple written communications and interpreting visual information.
• Practical understanding to follow straightforward, one- or two-step instructions.
• Aptitude for handling routine situations with clear procedures and minimal variance.
• Ability to interpret instructions, brief written materials, and memos.
• Comfortable with basic calculations such as rates, ratios, percentages, and interpreting graphs.
