About the role
BDO Rotorua is seeking an Audit Assistant Manager to join a locally owned professional services team in Rotorua, Bay of Plenty. This is a full-time onsite position offering the chance to grow within a supportive environment that values collaboration, balance, and long-term career development.

What the role involves
- Take ownership of complex audit assignments from initial planning through to final delivery, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Coordinate team workloads and deadlines while keeping partners and other stakeholders updated on progress.
- Support, coach, and develop team members in a constructive and collaborative setting.
- Set expectations clearly, provide regular feedback, and help the team stay aligned on deliverables.
- Use audit methodology and accounting standards effectively across all engagements.
- Maintain compliance with ethics, independence, and quality requirements, while identifying and reducing risk.
- Spot audit and accounting issues early and recommend practical solutions to partners and clients.
- Monitor budgets, timelines, and cost considerations, including discussions with clients where needed.
- Build and sustain strong client relationships while balancing client needs with audit obligations.
- Help lift technical capability by leading advanced training sessions and sharing knowledge across the team.
