Role Overview

Strand seeks a highly driven individual to join a compact yet productive team as Associate, Corporate Development. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the role demands strong financial, strategic, and scientific insight to bolster corporate strategy, assess business prospects, and foster value-generating initiatives. Serving as the founding member of the Corporate Development department, this position is key to developing scalable, best-in-class corporate development operations and guiding long-term growth strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze external assets, technologies, and platforms for potential business development, licensing, partnerships, and growth projects.
• Assist in due diligence and evaluation of licensing, collaborations, and business ventures through scientific, strategic, commercial, and financial lenses.
• Contribute to long-term financial planning, corporate valuation, and scenario analyses to aid strategic choices, capital distribution, and fundraising efforts.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models for valuation, transactions, and benchmarking to assess strategic opportunities and business outcomes.
• Coordinate transaction processes including diligence workflows, data room management, deliverable tracking, and stakeholder collaboration.
• Perform competitive intelligence and market research to monitor industry trends, competitor pipelines, emerging technologies, and relevant financial and M&A activities.
• Prepare executive-level presentations, analyses, and materials supporting corporate strategies, board discussions, investor relations, and other stakeholder communications.
• Lead and assist in special projects such as strategic planning, growth initiatives, acquisition targeting, and other analytical tasks advancing corporate goals.

Candidate Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline; MBA, CFA, or equivalent credentials strongly preferred.
• Between 2 to 4 years of relevant experience within life sciences sectors including investment banking, consulting, corporate development, investor relations, or strategic financial roles.
• Proficient in conducting market research, competitive analysis, and industry evaluations to identify growth paths.
• Experienced in financial statement analysis and business performance appraisal focusing on risks and growth drivers.
• Familiar with due diligence processes and transaction management is highly advantageous.
• Strong project management abilities capable of handling multiple streams and coordinating across functions.
• Excellent communication skills with experience preparing executive presentations and strategic recommendations.
• Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial data tools.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, detail-oriented setting.
• Demonstrates sound business judgment, strategic problem-solving, and innovative thinking.

Compensation

The position offers an annual salary range of $100,000 to $150,000, complemented by bonus and equity incentives.
