Job Overview

The role involves directing the collections process for assigned delinquent retail customer portfolios to reduce overdue credit exposure, focusing on personal, credit card, vehicle, and mortgage loans. You will develop and implement strategies for loan restructuring, collections, and collateral sales. The position involves close coordination with legal teams, police authorities, external debt collectors, and internal retail collections staff to ensure compliance with regulations and bank policies while meeting recovery objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement approved collections strategies aimed at mitigating bank losses and enhancing collection efficiency, continuously refining processes and policies.
  • Analyze the Retail NPL portfolio to identify trends and address overdue accounts by preventive and corrective actions to minimize defaults.
  • Formulate, negotiate, and execute restructuring and collection plans with customers, ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with business units, credit risk officers, third-party agents, and legal teams to aggressively pursue debt recovery and maintain legal compliance.
  • Monitor and supervise the retail collections unit to ensure strategy implementation and adherence to processes, reporting regularly to senior management and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain close relationships with internal stakeholders and external parties such as government agencies, legal consultants, and telecommunications to track delinquent customers and their commitments.
  • Conduct thorough investigations including site visits and extensive background checks to assess customer status and collateral valuations to inform collection decisions.
  • Manage engagement and termination of external debt collection agencies and legal counsel, especially for complex cases involving overseas defaulters.
  • Oversee the auction process for collateral liquidation, ensuring transparency and fairness in bid evaluation.
  • Manage loan loss provisions and comply with all relevant banking regulations and accounting standards.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed reports on portfolio status, legal actions, recoveries, and operational metrics to senior management and regulatory authorities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in retail or corporate risk management within a prestigious international bank or similar financial or consultancy organization.
