Project Context

The M25 motorway is a flagship venture for Egis, recognized as the busiest section of the UK's Strategic Road Network, accommodating over 200,000 vehicles daily. This critical infrastructure spans approximately 800 structures and five tunnels, requiring continuous upkeep, enhancements, and repairs to maintain optimal function and safety.

Role Overview

This role supports the Project Manager responsible for Pavement Delivery Advisor (PDA) projects across the entire M25 network. Project scope includes pavement refurbishment, safety upgrades, structural repairs, geotechnical, and drainage works. The position entails flexible working from offices in Leatherhead, South Mimms, or Dartford, with travel to project sites as necessary, including occasional night-time health and safety audits.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to the Project Manager in overseeing PDA projects from initiation through to completion within the M25 network.
• Coordinate with all stakeholders, especially National Highways and Connect Plus as primary clients.
• Ensure projects meet planned schedules, budgets, quality standards, and deliver agreed outcomes with comprehensive documentation for project closure.
• Implement innovative and efficient design and construction approaches across projects.
• Support projects adhering to the company's Zero Harm health and safety plan.
• Manage multiple projects at different lifecycle stages, under Project Manager guidance.
• Oversee end-to-end project management including scheme development and coordination with asset teams, designers, sub-consultants, construction personnel, and contractors.
• Liaise consistently with internal and external partners such as Planners, Construction Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Asset managers, and Designers.
• Manage P6 project schedules with planning teams, identifying critical path activities.
• Control commercial aspects including cost planning, supplier quotations, invoice reviews, forecasting, and application assessments alongside commercial teams.
• Commission and supervise internal and external resources, ensuring quality, schedule adherence, and budget compliance.
• Lead gateway reviews and collaborative cost evaluations with clients and project teams.
• Follow project governance and lead preparation and presentation to ensure successful passage through project gateways.
• Generate routine reports on project progress, risks, and commercial status for internal stakeholders and clients.
• Participate actively in the Collaborative M25 community through balance scorecards, forums, and workshops.
• Uphold Connect Plus company values and support sustainability goals and business plans.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Desirable project management experience, ideally with recognized certifications such as PRINCE2, APMP, or candidates working towards these.
• Comprehensive knowledge of highway or structural engineering and related design disciplines.
• Familiarity with Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations and health and safety legislation.
• Strong problem-solving aptitude and proactive approach.
• Excellent communication and presentation capabilities.
• Established safety management mindset and culture.
• Adaptable and self-aware to meet diverse project demands.
• Resilience and capability to manage priorities independently.
• Ability to build and nurture relationships and foster trust among stakeholders.
