Role Overview
The Assistant Manager, Guest Experience is a pivotal member of the store leadership team. This role ensures that both team members and guests receive exceptional service daily. The Assistant Manager leads from the sales floor, focusing on team building, management, and development. They cultivate a team culture where inclusivity and belonging thrive, offering team members opportunities for growth. Through this, the role ensures the delivery of an outstanding guest experience aligned with company values and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & People Management: Foster an inclusive and respectful team atmosphere by recognizing and celebrating diversity, ensuring a supportive, productive, and enjoyable workplace for all.
- Team Engagement: Help team members understand how their individual contributions impact store and company success.
- Execute the Store Manager’s vision regarding people management and communicate it effectively to the team.
- Assist in recruiting and cultivating a diverse, skilled team to achieve key outcomes and performance goals.
- Continuously support team learning and professional growth through direct feedback, coaching, mentoring, and regular development check-ins.
- Oversee performance management by providing consistent feedback, facilitating recognitions, handling documentation, and addressing performance issues.
- Address employee concerns appropriately, involving internal support teams when necessary.
- Guest Experience & Community: Lead in providing exceptional guest connections and product knowledge on the retail floor, coaching team members to bridge any gaps.
- Manage retail floor operations effectively by making quick decisions to ensure efficient coverage and performance.
- Handle guest feedback and escalate guest concerns tactfully to resolve issues and enhance satisfaction.
- Operations, Product & Strategy: Collaborate with managers to analyze business performance metrics, including profit and loss statements, informing strategic planning such as sales targets and hiring strategies.
- Maintain optimal product presentation and merchandising standards, ensuring timely product restocking, destocking, and visual adjustments.
- Adhere to store opening and closing procedures accurately.
- Ensure workplace safety by complying with applicable policies and procedures.
- Budget Responsibility: Manage assigned portions of controllable budgets and labor hours effectively.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum one year experience in people management.
- At least one year of leadership experience managing business operations, administration, or project/process oversight.
- Legally authorized to work in the store’s country.
- Reliable transportation required to travel to the assigned store.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including early mornings, evenings, overnight, weekends, and holidays.
- Preferred but not mandatory: High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree; retail or sales-specific management experience; recruiting and training employees.
Work Environment & Conditions
- The work environment includes bright lighting and loud music.
- Work involves both team collaboration and independent tasks.
- May require conflict management, guest de-escalation, and relationship building with new and existing community members.
- Use of computers and technical devices, including virtual meetings, is common.
- Physical activity includes moving throughout the store during shifts and occasionally prolonged sitting periods.
- Occasional lifting of boxes up to 30 lbs (13.6 kg) may be necessary.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly base pay ranges between $24.54 and $33.21, depending on minimum wage and location.
- Target bonus is 25% of base pay, bringing total pay potential to between $30.68 and $41.51 per hour.
- Compensation aligns with a pay-for-performance approach recognizing both individual and team excellence.
