Role Overview
The Assistant General Manager will lead the Intellectual Property Rights department within the R&D business unit based in Dholka, Gujarat. This leadership role involves overseeing all aspects of patent strategy to support various teams and subsidiaries within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Head and drive the patent strategy for the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) team.
- Provide IP assistance to departments including API, NCE, Formulation, NDDS, Biotech, New Product Development, Marketing, business units, subsidiaries, and research partners.
- Analyze patent literature and formulate ANDA filing approaches for selected products.
- Support product selection by examining granted patents and applications.
- Ensure freedom to operate (FTO) for the company’s API, NCE, and Formulation products in global markets.
- Grant IP clearance concerning API, NCE, Formulation Development, and NDDS project strategies.
- Prepare and deliver detailed FTO and non-infringement analyses within deadlines.
- Work cross-functionally to identify opportunities for securing new IP rights.
- Plan and execute patent filing strategies aimed at global patent protection.
- Draft, file, prosecute, and defend patent applications by managing office actions to achieve patent grants worldwide.
- Manage the company’s patent portfolio and associated intellectual property assets.
- Conduct third-party IP due diligence reviews.
- Organize and lead training and knowledge sharing sessions on patents and intellectual property matters.
- File post-grant oppositions as necessary and defend patents against challenges and oppositions.
- Perform thorough literature searches using tools such as SciFinder and PatSeer.
- Prepare, review, and assess varied reports including Patent Landscape, Literature Search, Formulation Disclosure, and Literature Toolkit reports.
- Monitor international patent trends, competitor activities, and new technologies to inform strategic decisions.
