Position Overview
Collaborating closely with the Finance Controller and Chief Financial Officer, the Assistant Accountant will oversee daily financial tasks and provide essential support to finance operations. This role offers a chance to contribute to enhancing workflows and adopting innovative systems, with a focus on integrating AI-based automation to streamline processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage purchase ledger activities, including creating purchase orders and coordinating invoice approvals, moving towards AI-driven automation.
- Maintain sales ledger functions such as customer invoicing and credit control.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations across multiple currencies.
- Review credit card expenses to ensure accurate synchronization with our accounting platform.
- Prepare and file monthly VAT/GST returns.
- Assist the Finance Controller in generating monthly management accounts for four entities across three countries.
- Support annual statutory audit processes.
- Handle payroll processing for the UK and Singapore.
- Lead and contribute to various financial and administrative projects as needed.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong curiosity and openness to working with AI-enabled finance tools, aiming to reduce manual efforts.
- Fundamental understanding of accounting concepts, regulations, and legislation with a proactive approach to learning and inquiry.
- Experience using accounting software, primarily Xero, and openness to exploring add-ons that reduce administrative workload.
- Solid administrative capabilities to handle diverse responsibilities within a small team.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills for managing tasks and providing clear updates.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail to ensure high-quality financial reporting for senior stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Competence in data entry, with an emphasis on seeking automation opportunities.
- Working knowledge of Excel and willingness to explore features that enhance efficiency.
- Positive, proactive attitude with eagerness for personal and professional growth.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate across departments.

Benefits and Additional Information
- Annual salary range is £30,000 to £35,000, dependent on experience.
- Applications are welcome from candidates Qualified by Experience (QBE) or those currently pursuing recognized accounting qualifications.

- The role is primarily remote; however, occasional travel to the UK for annual audits and quarterly team meetings is expected.
