Role overview
Kamloops Airport is hiring Airport Technician 2 (APT2) team members to support facilities maintenance and emergency response operations. Reporting to the Manager of Facilities and Emergency Services, this is a regular full-time union role covered by a Collective Agreement. The work follows a rotational shift schedule to support the airport’s 24/7 operations. The hourly pay is $42.74.
Key duties
- Carry out maintenance work on airport facilities and equipment, using scheduled inspections to help keep services and infrastructure available.
- Complete the Aircraft Rescue Firefighting Certificate and maintain compliance with CARS 303 and 323.
- Take an active role in the airport’s emergency response program.
- Safely operate mobile equipment, including heavy machinery.
- Follow workplace health and safety rules and practices at all times.
- Handle other duties that align with the needs of the position.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant brings at least 5 years of experience in an airport operations, facilities maintenance, or industrial setting. A ticketed trade is considered an asset. The role also requires readiness to obtain a valid Class 3 driver’s permit with airbrake endorsement within 3 months, along with the ability to secure a restricted radio operator’s licence and an airside vehicle operator’s permit. Candidates must meet all medical, physical ability, and other job-specific requirements for the APT2 role. Strong verbal and written communication skills are important, and applicants must live within Kamloops city limits.
Additional requirements
- Experience with emergency response procedures.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices for facilities and equipment.
- Understanding of summer and winter pavement and turf maintenance methods.
- Secondary school certificate or an equivalent qualification.
