About the Company and Role
Alliance One Zambia Limited is a prominent agricultural enterprise dedicated to upholding excellence, integrity, and sustainable business principles. We are recruiting a qualified and highly organized Accounts Officer Payables to join our Finance department. This position is permanent and reports directly to the Financial Controller.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable by reviewing supplier invoices for proper approval and cost allocation.
- Record approved invoices accurately in the creditor ledger for payment processing.
- Generate and analyze accounts payable ageing reports to identify upcoming payment obligations.
- Conduct supplier reconciliations and resolve any outstanding discrepancies.
- Address supplier inquiries promptly and maintain positive vendor relationships.
- Prepare payment proposals, payment advices, and all supporting documentation.
- Process and reconcile transport-related invoices from Operations, ensuring invoice validity and approvals before payment.
- Ensure timely payments to transport service providers as per agreed terms.
- Carry out general ledger reconciliations for accounts such as trade payables, advances, prepayments, accrued freight, and clearing accounts, investigating discrepancies as needed.
- Provide payroll support including processing employee advance deductions and related entries.
- Coordinate branch wage submissions and follow up on payroll requirements.
- Assist with statutory payments including PAYE, NAPSA, and Personal Levy, and compile employee benefits data required for payroll.
- Maintain and archive accounting records properly in line with statutory and company guidelines.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of Grade 12 with credits in English and Mathematics.
- ACCA Level II certification or ZICA Diploma.
- Full membership of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
- At least 3 years of experience in Financial Accounting or a similar financial role.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of accounts payable procedures and journal entry processing.
- Proficiency in SAP financial software.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- High attention to detail combined with numerical accuracy.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
