2D Artist

About the Role

RubyPlay is seeking a talented 2D Artist to join its Art Team in a remote setup based out of Warsaw. Since 2017, the company has created over 200 original games and formed more than 100 partnerships around the world. Its work has been recognized with awards and shortlists, and the team spans specialists from 34 countries.

This position is ideal for an artist who is deeply motivated by craft, draws regularly, and enjoys producing polished, vivid, and visually satisfying artwork. The role calls for strong manual illustration ability and solid artistic fundamentals. While AI tools may be used, they must complement real skill rather than replace knowledge of light, color, form, and composition.

What You Will Do

• Create slot symbols that are visually consistent, easy to read, and clearly organized for mobile screens.
• Develop atmospheric backgrounds that support the game mood while directing attention toward the reels and key gameplay elements.
• Design memorable characters and prepare artwork that can be smoothly adapted for animation, including distinct stages and visual upgrades.
• Build intuitive in-game UI, pop-ups, and feature graphics that combine clarity, emotion, strong typography, and clean composition.

What the Role Requires

• Excellent command of the basics of art and design, including color, light, volume, perspective, and spatial awareness.
• Prior experience working on slots is essential, along with a clear understanding of the iGaming style and its technical constraints.
• The ability to work independently, own tasks, manage time well, and move forward without constant supervision.
• Confident spoken English for smooth day-to-day collaboration.

AI-Related Expectations

• Ability to create character and background concept drafts and expand variations using AI tools such as Leonardo AI, Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, Nano Banana, or similar platforms.
• Skill in integrating AI tools into an efficient production workflow to speed up art creation.
• Capability to refine AI-generated output and prepare it for high-resolution use through post-processing and upscaling.
• Awareness of current generative AI trends and the ability to advise on practical tool usage.

Portfolio Expectations

• Include both commercial work and personal studies, sketches, and explorations so the team can understand your process and artistic development.
• Show completed game projects and team work, with clear notes explaining your specific contribution to each piece.

Additional Requirements

• A strong understanding of modeling, color, and composition before working with AI tools.
• High-level prompt design skills and control over tool parameters to achieve the intended result.

Nice to Have

• Previous exposure to branding or client-facing work.
• Experience with Spine 2D or 3D tools, or other software used for block-outs.
• Work-in-progress examples from earlier projects.
• Familiarity with project management tools such as Monday and JIRA.
