Workshop Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a Workshop Assistant to join our team based in Dyce, Aberdeen. This role supports the upkeep of workshop yards, performs forklift duties, and aids in maintaining efficient operations within the facility. It is an excellent entry-level opportunity for motivated individuals eager to develop practical skills in an operational setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping duties across workshop, storage, and office areas.
• Assist with preparing components and equipment for dispatch to vendors or customers.
• Maintain the external yard and parking areas to a clean and orderly standard.
• Handle local deliveries and collections using the company’s 1-tonne flatbed van.
• Carry out general handyman tasks to support facility maintenance.
• Operate forklift machinery as required.
• Adhere strictly to health, safety, environmental (HSE), quality, and workshop procedures.
• Collaborate effectively with Workshop and Stores teams and other internal departments to meet customer expectations and process goals.
• Provide support to the Fitting Team Leader and Inventory Manager whenever needed.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Strong attention to detail.
• Basic numerical, literacy, and administrative skills.
• Flexible and self-driven with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently and within a team environment.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and proactive work ethic.
• Good communication abilities are essential.

Experience and Qualifications

• Possession of a clean, full UK driving licence.
• Forklift certification for at least 10 tonnes preferred but not mandatory.
• Manual handling certification desirable but not essential.
• Risk assessment and COSHH qualifications would be advantageous.
• Experience or certification in banksman slinging using an overhead crane is a plus but not required.
