Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated full-time Woodworker to join the Production department at our La Puente, CA facility. This role involves working extensively with wood materials and machinery to create, assemble, and finish wood products to precise specifications. The ideal candidate has experience in woodworking, blueprint interpretation, and machinery operation, with a strong commitment to quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand required dimensions, cuts, and assembly steps.
• Measure and mark wood stock or paper patterns accurately before cutting to ensure quality control.
• Operate woodworking machinery such as power saws, jointers, mortisers, tenoners, molders, and shapers to cut and shape wood or materials substituting wood.
• Cut, trim, and prepare timber and joinery parts precisely using hand tools and machines.
• Assemble components by attaching parts with glue, dowels, nails, screws, or clamps to produce finished units.
• Reinforce joints and ensure all parts fit tightly to maintain product integrity.
• Install hardware items including hinges, handles, and drawer pulls with hand tools.
• Prepare surfaces for finishing by sanding, scraping, and trimming joints.
• Apply finishing treatments such as stains, varnishes, or paints to complete products and perform final smoothing touch-ups.
• Conduct quality control by verifying dimensions, fit, and surface quality during production.
• Inspect for defects and adjust processes to maintain high standards.
• Estimate required materials for production jobs and coordinate ordering of supplies.
• Match wood materials for consistency in color, grain, and texture across finished goods.
• Perform repairs or alterations on wooden furniture, cabinetry, and fixtures as necessary.
• Collaborate with customers or designers to define project specifications, and use computer-aided design (CAD) where applicable.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in woodworking and fabricating wood-based products using various machines.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and work orders accurately.
• Experienced in precise measuring, marking, and cutting to exact dimensions.
• Competent in assembling wooden components and installing related hardware.
• Knowledgeable in finishing techniques including staining, painting, and lacquering.
• Detail-oriented and committed to producing precise, quality workmanship.
• Effective problem-solving skills within the fabrication and production process.
• Physical capability to lift and maneuver heavy wood pieces and maintain stamina through extended periods of standing or walking.
• Strong mathematical skills relevant to measurements and calculations.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with CAD for designing furniture and wood products.
• Familiarity with Masonite, Formica, or vinyl surface materials.
• Skills in programming woodworking machinery for automated tasks.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Frequently required to stand or walk for long durations.
• Capable of lifting and moving wood pieces weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.

Compensation and Benefits

The base hourly pay estimate for this position is approximately 19 USD. Actual salary may vary based on individual experience, education, and business factors.
