About the Role
Bulyanhulu Gold Mine in Tanzania is looking for a Survey Technician to join their team. Key Responsibilities
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols including attending mandatory training, wearing personal protective equipment, reporting incidents, and following safety, health, and environmental guidelines.
- Conduct development pickups and processing related tasks.
- Accurately record all fired rounds to monitor mining heading progress.
- Set up DGPS base systems effectively.
- Compile and organize survey data for easy retrieval and use.
- Ensure all survey station reports and mine stakeout plans are properly filed.
- Position survey stations as directed by the Mine Surveyor.
- Manage stock levels of surveying consumables to maintain minimum required inventory.
- Install grade pins, lasers, and stations underground as needed.
- Mark up holes and faces as part of surveying duties.
- Set up instruments at underground stations.
- Assist the Mine Surveyor with maintaining survey controls.
- Label batteries for all electronic devices, ensure correct charging, and keep discharge records.
- Perform daily vehicle cleaning checks, report defects promptly, and coordinate with maintenance for service intervals.
- Conduct borehole surveys for production holes, both downhole and uphole.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a Survey Technician Certificate.
- Certificates in related fields such as Geomatics, Cartography, Civil Engineering, or Mining Survey along with experience as a survey assistant in an underground mining environment.
- At least two years of work experience in underground mining surveying.
- Relevant practical experience or on-the-job training recognized by company authorities.
- Proficiency in English communication, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is advantageous.
- Strong hands-on experience with conventional surveying methods.
- Holding a drone pilot license issued by Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority is a plus.

Location Details
The Bulyanhulu mine is located in north-west Tanzania, Kahama district, Shinyanga region, about 55 km south of Lake Victoria and 150 km southwest of Mwanza city. It is a narrow-vein gold mine with gold, silver, and copper mineralization associated with steeply-dipping veins. Commercial production began in 2001.
