Supplier Management Capability Manager

About the Role

Westpac New Zealand is seeking a skilled Supplier Management Capability Manager to enhance supplier management across the organisation. This role is focused on strengthening relationships and embedding effective supplier management practices rather than traditional procurement or sourcing. Reporting to the Supplier Management Central Lead, you will collaborate closely with business leaders, relationship managers, procurement teams, and technology stakeholders to foster capability development, provide guidance, and evolve the supplier management framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate the adoption of supplier management best practices and frameworks throughout the company.
• Partner with Technology Relationship Managers to improve collaboration and supplier results.
• Establish and maintain trusted connections across business units, procurement, and speciality teams.
• Create and implement supplier management guidance, learning resources, and capability uplift programs.
• Participate in change management, continuous improvement efforts, and governance enhancement projects.
• Serve as an advocate for supplier management excellence within Westpac.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates may come from backgrounds in Supplier Management, Vendor Management, Procurement, Commercial Management, or Customer Relationship Management. The essential qualities include strong relationship-building skills, ability to influence stakeholders across complex environments, and translating policies into actionable tools.

Required Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated success in managing and influencing stakeholder relationships.
• Experience designing or implementing frameworks, training, guidance, or capability development initiatives.
• Effective facilitation, communication, and engagement abilities.
• Background in supporting organizational change or transformation projects.
• Excellent attention to detail with aptitude for simplifying complex issues into practical solutions.
• Comfortable working with technology teams and grasping technology-driven environments.

Experience in financial services or regulated industries is beneficial but not necessary.
