Job Overview

This supervisory position is based at the Waihi underground gold mine, located in a scenic region offering excellent work-life balance without the need for fly-in fly-out shifts. The role involves overseeing underground maintenance operations to maximize equipment availability, leading a maintenance team, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the underground maintenance team focused on maintaining and maximizing availability of mobile equipment.
• Provide technical advice and leadership to personnel.
• Plan, schedule, and oversee all maintenance activities to ensure timely, safe execution.
• Ensure readiness and resource allocation for breakdown and scheduled maintenance.
• Promote continuous improvement in maintenance processes.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Enforce safe work practices and compliance with all safety and company policies.
• Motivate and mentor maintenance staff, manage team performance, and address conflicts constructively.
• Identify and address skill gaps, supporting staff training and career development.

Qualifications and Experience

• Mechanical trade certificate relevant to mining maintenance.
• Capability to obtain necessary Certificate of Competence.
• Valid full driver’s license, preferably with manual vehicle driving experience.
• Minimum 5 years of mining maintenance experience in medium to large underground operations.
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience desirable.
• Strong mechanical knowledge on equipment capabilities, maintenance scheduling, and preventative maintenance.
• Proven ability in proactive maintenance within high-pressure environments.
• Technical expertise in underground mobile plant and ancillary equipment operations.
• Demonstrated commitment to and promotion of safety culture.
• Familiarity with software tools such as Pronto, Excel, and Word.
