Role summary

The team at Capcoal Surface Operations in Middlemount, Queensland is looking for an experienced Shovel Operator. Capcoal Surface is a long-running open-cut coal operation that produces about 5.1 Mtpa and works with a varied fleet that includes an electric rope shovel, five excavators, two draglines, and three drills.

What you will do

In this position, you will operate the shovel safely and manage your work area to deliver strong productivity while working in line with legislative obligations and the daily mine plan. The job calls for a strong focus on digging efficiency, reducing delays and downtime, and communicating clearly to help maintain a positive, cooperative crew culture. You will also escalate safety issues quickly to supervisors, record maintenance problems accurately and without delay, and contribute your experience to help the team improve safety, efficiency, and operating costs.

Experience and qualifications

A minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience operating a 4100 Electric Rope Shovel is essential, and supporting evidence must be provided. Experience with mining excavators, dozers, and graders will be viewed favorably. You should also show a proactive attitude toward safety, including a proven track record of following safe work practices and standard operating procedures.

Roster and work arrangements

This role follows a 7 on / 7 off roster, with straight days and nights. Work location options include FIFO, DIDO, BIBO, or residential lifestyle arrangements. BIBO transport is available from the Mackay and Rockhampton areas.
