The Opportunity

Zinkworks is collaborating with a leading UK telecommunications provider on its flagship “Agentic AI” change programme. From the Innovation Hub in Athlone, the team is creating a “CTO 2.0” environment that replaces manual, legacy processes with an intelligent operating model driven by autonomous AI agents.

The team is looking for a Senior Python / GenAI Developer who can take high-level architecture and convert it into production-ready software. The role covers the full application lifecycle, from a React-based “Agentic Canvas” interface to Python services that coordinate complex RAG pipelines and agentic workflows on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

This is a hands-on engineering position focused on advanced applied GenAI, with the goal of building real-world systems that support critical national infrastructure.

The Role

You will collaborate with AI Architects, Solution Architects, DevOps Engineers, and telecom subject matter experts to design and deliver AI-powered applications that go beyond simple chat experiences and instead use tools, multi-step reasoning, and autonomous agents. The work involves creating secure, resilient, and scalable systems that connect AI models to real enterprise data and operational platforms.

Responsibilities

• Build retrieval-augmented generation services in Python, using FastAPI, to ingest, split, embed, and search unstructured content such as PDFs, network diagrams, and documentation.
• Create and manage agent workflows with tools like LangChain, LangGraph, or Vertex AI Agent Builder so that agents can reason through multiple steps and call external tools.
• Develop, test, and improve system prompts so agents consistently follow strict engineering rules while balancing speed, dependability, and cost.
• Connect AI agents to outside APIs and enterprise systems including Jira, ServiceNow, inventory tools, and internal business platforms.
• Deploy and run applications on GCP using services such as Cloud Run and Pub/Sub, along with other managed cloud components.
• Produce clean, testable code and make sure solutions satisfy enterprise expectations for security, observability, and operational readiness.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to clarify needs, review technical designs, and deliver production-quality solutions.

Must-Have Skills

• Advanced Python development ability, with practical use of FastAPI or Flask and asynchronous programming.
• Experience creating GenAI applications with tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangGraph, or Google Vertex AI.
• Working knowledge of vector databases including Pinecone, Milvus, Weaviate, or pgvector.
• Strong grasp of embeddings, similarity search, and RAG architecture.
• Experience deploying software on Google Cloud Platform, particularly Cloud Run and Pub/Sub.
• Good understanding of REST APIs, system integration, and secure service design.
• Experience working in Agile, multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Prior experience building agentic or multi-agent systems in live production settings.
• Exposure to telecom environments such as OSS/BSS, network inventory, or automation platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps practices, or infrastructure as code.
• Background in security, compliance, or regulated enterprise environments.
