Role Overview
The Scientist (Molecular) will provide scientific expertise towards the development, validation, and execution of molecular assays for research, preclinical, and clinical studies. This position requires precise sample processing adhering to regulatory standards, SOPs, and quality guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage laboratory supplies: order, maintain stock, and obtain competitive quotes.
- Maintain laboratory equipment cleanliness, calibration, and upkeep to ensure optimal functionality.
- Uphold excellent laboratory housekeeping and safety standards.
- Support development, optimization, and validation of molecular biology assays including RNA/DNA extraction, digital PCR (dPCR), quantitative PCR (qPCR), genotyping, and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for both human and animal trials.
- Conduct assays required for research projects, preclinical studies, and clinical trials accurately.
- Contribute to document creation such as standard operating procedures, internal and client reports, maintaining comprehensive records in line with industry standards.
- Analyze, interpret and present assay data effectively as needed.
- Ensure strict compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, OECD GLP principles, GCLP guidelines, 360biolabs’ Quality Management System, and regulatory frameworks including NATA Accreditation requirements.
- Promote and maintain safe laboratory practices in all activities.
- Foster strong communication and collaboration within the team.
- Engage in ongoing professional development by attending relevant meetings, trainings, and seminars.
Selection Criteria
- Bachelor's degree with Honours in Biological Sciences or a related discipline with relevant experience is mandatory.
- PhD in a Biological field or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
- Proven expertise in molecular biology techniques, especially in qPCR, dPCR, NGS, and assay validation is essential.
- Demonstrated experience handling and analyzing clinical samples.
- Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge or experience of working within a quality-controlled, accredited laboratory environment (e.g. ISO/IEC 17025, GLP) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with database management and file handling software is desirable.
- Experience participating in early phase clinical trials is a plus.
- Highly motivated with enthusiasm for medical research and development of therapeutics and vaccines.
