Role Overview
The Scale Desk Administrator will support the smooth and efficient functioning of a metals recycling facility based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This pivotal role involves managing daily operations related to scrap metal purchasing from both public customers and industrial accounts.
Work Environment and Schedule
The position operates Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts. It requires collaboration with various teams including dispatchers, truck drivers, logistics, and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop expertise in scrap purchasing and management software.
- Create, manage, and process scale tickets accurately.
- Weigh incoming and outgoing trucks and customers.
- Inspect all incoming loads for contaminants such as non-metallics and hazardous materials.
- Communicate with customers via radio to oversee unloading procedures safely.
- Prepare bills of lading for outbound shipments.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries about scrap metal pricing.
- Maintain effective collaboration with all operational teams.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong customer service aptitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- High attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Administrative experience preferred.
- Self-motivated and capable of thriving in a dynamic team environment.
- Physically able to perform tasks including climbing on trucks for inspections.
- Willingness to travel within Saskatchewan to cover absences and training.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
- Experience in metal recycling and previous scale attendant duties are advantageous.
