SAP ABAP Developer - Public Cloud & BTP

Role Summary

The position involves leading the design, development, and delivery of innovative SAP applications, primarily within SAP S/4HANA landscapes but also including support and enhancement for existing solutions. You will collaborate with a team comprising functional and technical consultants, architects, and project managers to deliver impactful business value to clients. This role supports remote work from any location within New Zealand or Australia.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, construct, test, and deploy SAP solutions leveraging ABAP and the RESTful Application Programming model (RAP).
• Develop and improve applications in SAP S/4HANA and Business Technology Platform (BTP) settings.
• Create OData services, Core Data Services (CDS) Views, business objects, and SAP Fiori-enabled user interfaces.
• Engage in technical design workshops and solution architecture with customers.
• Lead technical discussions and mentor junior developers and consultants.
• Work closely with functional consultants to translate business needs into robust technical designs.
• Conduct code reviews ensuring best practices and development standards are maintained.
• Deliver project deliverables within the agreed timeframe and quality parameters.
• Provide troubleshooting, support, and enhancements for client systems as necessary.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to technical assets and delivery approaches.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Over 5 years’ professional experience in SAP ABAP development.
• Proven proficiency in SAP RAP (RESTful Application Programming Model).
• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA development environments.
• Strong command of ABAP Object-Oriented programming, CDS views, OData services, and SAP Gateway technology.
• Experience in developing and extending SAP Fiori applications.
• Familiarity with SAP Business Technology Platform development and services.
• Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning capabilities.
• Background working on comprehensive SAP implementation and enhancement projects.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
• Independent work capability combined with effective collaboration in a consulting team setting.
