Role Overview

The Retail Underwriter manages the quoting, conversion, renewal, and upkeep of insurance policies handled via intermediaries, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for customers and partners alike.

Key Responsibilities

• Handling inbound customer and business partner communications through phone calls and emails, along with other administrative duties.
• Exemplifying customer-centric attitudes by engaging effectively, exceeding expectations, and maintaining integrity.
• Organizing workload strategically to meet various service level agreements.
• Following established underwriting guidelines and company procedures thoroughly.
• Proactively identifying potential customer issues and responding appropriately.
• Ensuring compliance with the Financial Regulator’s Minimum Competency Code, Consumer Protection Code, and other relevant regulations.
• Actively contributing to the achievement of personal and team goals.
• Participating enthusiastically in inclusive leadership initiatives and continuous learning with managerial support.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of phone-based sales or customer service experience in the insurance sector.
• Completion of APA, CIP, or fulfillment of the Grandfather criteria per the Financial Regulator’s Minimum Competency Code.
• Proven capability to meet key performance indicators related to quality and service.
• Strong interest in developing an insurance career, supported by relevant qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with home and motor insurance products.
• Experience with broker management software such as Open GI or Relay.
• Basic understanding of data analytics and artificial intelligence concepts as they relate to the insurance industry, though not mandatory for this role.

Additional Information

This is a hybrid role combining remote and onsite work. Employment is contingent on meeting the Central Bank of Ireland's regulatory requirements, including compliance with the Minimum Competency Code, Fitness & Probity standards, and Individual Accountability Framework. Successful candidates will receive applicable conduct standards training.
