Overview
The Project Transmission Line Manager (Site) is tasked with overseeing the execution of designated sections of high-voltage transmission line projects (765/400 kV), ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery with uncompromised quality and zero-harm safety principles. The role demands strict adherence to safety, regulatory compliance, and quality standards while driving efficient site operations and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, monitor, and coordinate all foundation, erection, and stringing activities to meet project timelines and quality benchmarks.
- Verify optimal tower placements and routes using survey data and field conditions, addressing extension requirements and crossings such as national highways and railways.
- Develop and update Level 2 schedules—weekly and monthly workforce and material planning—to sustain steady project progress.
- Regularly submit detailed daily and monthly management information system (MIS) reports to update stakeholders on project status.
- Implement Field Quality Plans and adhere to IS codes/CBIP manuals ensuring material conformity and workmanship standards at site.
- Enforce occupational health and safety plans with regular training programs fostering a zero-harm site environment.
- Conduct frequent quality and safety inspections to mitigate risks and maintain compliance.
- Maintain comprehensive administrative documentation including compensation records, landowner agreements, and approvals to prevent regulatory penalties.
- Collaborate with government bodies and administrative officers for land and right-of-way issue resolution.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors through routine project meetings to manage costs, address issues promptly, and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Manage communications with local authorities for shutdown arrangements and necessary project permissions.
- Monitor project expenditures, manage resource utilization, and track vendor payments to ensure budget compliance.
- Identify and address hazards proactively by endorsing safety protocols and conducting ongoing safety audits.
- Leverage advanced project management software for real-time progress tracking, resource management, and team communication.
- Drive continuous quality improvements by adopting innovative methods and technologies in project execution.
Qualifications and Experience
B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering with 10 to 12 years of relevant experience in the execution of high-voltage transmission line projects (765/400 kV). Must exhibit proficiency in resolving right-of-way challenges and strong knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance standards pertinent to transmission line projects.
Stakeholder Interaction
- Internal interactions include coordination with Projects Engineering and Head Office teams.
- External engagements involve State Transmission Utilities (STU), Central Transmission Utilities (CTU), State Load Dispatch Centers (SLDC), and National Regional Load Dispatch Centers (NRLDC).
