About the Role
We are looking for a driven Project Engineer to join our Machine Vision and Surface Inspection Solutions team. In this position, you will lead the successful delivery of projects from initial requirements gathering and solution design to installation, commissioning, and formal handover to customers. Collaborating closely with clients, sales, engineering experts, and service teams, your goal will be to ensure projects adhere to timelines, scope, and quality expectations. This opportunity allows you to work with leading edge inspection and automation technologies across diverse industrial fields.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the project lifecycle management of Machine Vision and Surface Inspection initiatives, ensuring completion from start to client acceptance.
- Perform detailed analysis of manufacturing, assembly, and inspection processes to define technical needs and project aims.
- Create customized application concepts and recommend inspection and automation solutions tailored to client requirements.
- Carry out feasibility assessments, conduct application testing, and run proof-of-concept trials to verify solution viability.
- Coordinate with customers, vendors, internal engineering teams, and stakeholders to drive smooth project execution.
- Design, configure, and fine-tune vision systems involving cameras, optics, lighting, software, and automation interfaces.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including specifications, layout drawings, project schedules, and progress reports.
- Lead installation, calibration, commissioning, testing, and validation of systems on customer sites.
- Identify and manage project risks, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
- Support factory and site acceptance testing phases and obtain customer approvals.
- Provide expert technical guidance throughout implementation and troubleshoot complex issues effectively.
- Conduct training for customers on correct operation, upkeep, and best practices of vision systems.
- Support sales and business development teams by participating in pre-sale technical discussions and presentations when needed.
- Ensure all activities comply with corporate standards for quality, safety, and project management.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to promote satisfaction and repeat business.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Automation Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Two to five years’ experience in Project or Application Engineering, Industrial Automation, Machine Vision, Inspection Systems, or analogous roles.
- Proven experience managing technical projects in manufacturing or industrial automation settings.
- Solid knowledge of industrial production operations, quality inspection systems, and automation technologies.
- Hands-on expertise with Machine Vision technologies including cameras, optics, lighting, sensors, and vision software.
- Understanding of PLCs, industrial communication protocols, and automation system integration preferred.
- Experience across industries such as Automotive, Electronics, Solar, Glass, Packaging, Metals, Paper, Film, or general manufacturing is a plus.
- Strong multi-project management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities coupled with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Availability to travel within the region and internationally as project requirements dictate.
