About the Role
Willdan's Lighting & Electric division is hiring a Project Coordinator to support energy efficiency initiatives focused on multifamily buildings in the New York City area. This role assists program teams, contractors, field staff, and clients in advancing projects aimed at reducing gas and electricity usage or electrifying buildings.
This is a hybrid role requiring presence 2-3 days per week onsite in New York, NY, with some local travel as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate project intake and maintain communication with contractors to oversee projects from start to final payment.
- Collaborate with contractors to assess energy savings from multifamily efficiency initiatives.
- Examine pre- and post-project inspections to ensure quality and compliance.
- Manage project tracking using proprietary Willdan data management software.
- Collect and review various project documents including energy savings reports, equipment details, financial aspects, and affordable housing documentation.
- Engage with industry stakeholders and represent the company at relevant events.
- Evaluate inspection outcomes and advise contractors on actions to meet program compliance and operational standards.
- Monitor project progress, reporting, and follow-up activities to ensure successful outcomes.
- Maintain open communication channels with internal teams, contractors, and customers.
- Participate in critical program functions as needed to ensure success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1-2 years of experience in energy efficiency, multifamily housing, or project management.
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, engineering staff, program managers, and sales teams.
- Excellent organizational capabilities to handle projects end-to-end while upholding customer service excellence and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with energy efficiency concepts, sustainability reporting, and related technologies.
- Proficiency with software tools such as spreadsheets, project management applications, word processors, presentation software, and tracking systems.
- Experience with computerized project tracking tools.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of natural gas energy-efficient technology and controls (e.g., Energy Management Systems, Building Envelope, Boilers, Steam heating systems) or electrification measures like heat pumps.
- Willingness and capacity to learn about HVAC and mechanical systems including pumps, motors, variable speed drives, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, and water loop systems.
