Job description
Role Overview
This position at HMP Grendon and Spring Hill offers a unique opportunity to be part of His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service as an Operational Support Grade (OSG). The role is pivotal in assisting the smooth daily operations of a busy prison by undertaking a mix of administrative and physical tasks. Responsibilities include security checks, managing deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring communications such as phone calls and CCTV.
Key Responsibilities
- Support gate operations with security searches
- Manage and oversee receipt of deliveries
- Supervise visitors entering the facility
- Monitor telephone calls and CCTV systems
- Perform escort duties, including walking or driving vehicles around prison grounds
Candidate Profile
Applicants do not need formal qualifications but should possess strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Good judgment, practical common sense, and the capability to collaborate effectively with team members are essential. Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, is required. Holding a full, valid UK driving license is mandatory due to driving responsibilities within the role.
