Job description

About the Role

As a Policy Analyst at Helic & Co, you will facilitate executive decision-making by delivering thorough analysis, briefing documents, and strategic guidance centered on government relations, public policy, and organizational objectives. You will empower senior leaders — especially the Executive Director and CEO — by simplifying intricate, ambiguous, or politically sensitive topics into clear and practical insights.

Responsibilities

  • Produce executive briefs, issue papers, decision decks, and summaries to aid knowledgeable executive decisions.
  • Prepare concise summaries, scenario evaluations, and risk assessments regarding legislative, regulatory, or sector developments.
  • Provide fast-response briefs on urgent or politically delicate subjects.
  • Research and analyze policy proposals, legislative amendments, government initiatives, and related organizational issues.
  • Evaluate operational, financial, and reputational effects, offering evidence-backed recommendations consistent with organizational objectives.
  • Convert technical policy, legislative, and regulatory details into accessible narratives suitable for executive comprehension.
  • Collect insights from operations, legal, communications, and program departments, integrating diverse views into cohesive briefing materials.
  • Assist leadership in preparation for stakeholder meetings, government interactions, board presentations, and strategic endeavors.
  • Contribute to strategic planning by identifying opportunities, risks, long-term policy trends, and supporting advocacy and organizational positioning.
  • Monitor government releases, legislative proceedings, and sector changes to maintain awareness of the policy environment.
  • Identify emerging issues requiring executive focus and maintain an issues tracker documenting status, risks, and suggested actions.
  • Draft speeches, talking points, meeting notes, and correspondence for governmental officials and other stakeholders, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and strategic focus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in public policy, political science, government relations, economics, business, or a related discipline.
  • Strong strategic thinking ability, viewing broad impacts, anticipating consequences, and linking policy changes to organizational goals.
  • Analytical proficiency comfortable with ambiguity, complex data, and multi-faceted decision-making contexts.
  • Excellent executive communication skills involving concise, persuasive, and decision-focused writing.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement capable of navigating internal politics, external relationships, and complex coordination.
  • Political sensitivity with insight into regulatory and reputational environments impacting decisions.
  • Competency in applying data analysis, reporting, visualization, and AI-based research tools to underpin evidence-driven decision-making.
