Job description

Role Overview

The Packaging and Labels Operator is responsible for overseeing the management, storage, and preparation of packaging materials and labels essential for production and warehouse workflows. This role ensures packaging supplies are readily available and organized to meet production demands while maintaining control of label inventory and accuracy throughout the process. Coordination with production teams is vital to sustain seamless supply and minimize disruptions. The operator also provides support to related functions such as Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) operations as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage storage, organization, and staging of packaging materials for production and warehouse systems.
  • Ensure timely availability and supply of packaging materials aligned with schedule and operational needs.
  • Maintain well-organized storage setups to facilitate efficiency and traceability of materials.
  • Regularly monitor packaging material consumption; report shortages or supply risks promptly.
  • Perform inventory audits and stock reconciliations, adhering to FIFO/FEFO principles.
  • Store packaging materials adhering strictly to food safety standards.
  • Maintain precise control over label inventory and validate labels against production and customer specifications before release.
  • Manage obsolete, damaged, and controlled labels following site-specific procedures.
  • Ensure accurate label application to reduce errors and compliance issues.
  • Investigate label discrepancies and assist in implementing corrective measures.
  • Maintain full traceability for label distribution and use.
  • Support product recall and traceability processes when applicable.
  • Process inventory transactions using warehouse management systems.
  • Collaborate with production, warehouse, and inventory teams to support continuous operations and resolve issues.
  • Provide assistance to adjacent processes including AGV operations when necessary.
  • Report and escalate any equipment or system malfunctions affecting material flow.
  • Coordinate with Quality and Production teams during product changeovers.
  • Comply with GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards, ensuring packaging and label handling meets quality requirements.
  • Report any defective or non-conforming packaging materials.
  • Maintain audit readiness concerning packaging and label controls.
  • Participate in root cause analysis related to packaging and labeling discrepancies.
  • Identify and suggest improvements for inventory accuracy and material flow efficiency.
  • Maintain and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory, labeling, and packaging.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in warehouse, manufacturing, or food production environments.
  • Strong understanding of packaging materials and label handling procedures.
  • High attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy.
  • Capability to coordinate material flow to meet operational demands efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Adept at working in active, process-driven environments.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), or other inventory management software.
  • Knowledgeable about GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
  • Familiar with inventory management practices including FIFO and FEFO.
  • Ability to conduct inventory reconciliation and cycle counts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting automated or AGV-based operations.
  • Familiarity with warehouse and inventory systems.
  • Background in food production or regulated industry settings.

Working Environment

  • Work primarily within temperature-controlled production areas maintained between 0–2°C.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels from AGVs, robotic equipment, and material-handling machinery.
  • Mandatory use of personal protective equipment including hearing protection and cold-weather gear.
