About the Role
Republic Bangla, a division of Republic Media Network, seeks dedicated and skilled News Reporters to enhance their editorial team based in Kolkata. Candidates should demonstrate adeptness in reporting, possess a keen sense of newsworthiness, and deliver precise and influential stories for both television and digital audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Report on a wide spectrum of topics including breaking news, politics, crime, business, entertainment, sports, and societal affairs within West Bengal and other designated regions.
- Collect, authenticate, and disseminate news rapidly with accuracy and editorial responsibility.
- Craft unique stories by building and managing a strong network of sources.
- Conduct live reports, interviews, and cover events on the ground for major happenings and special projects.
- Collaborate effectively with Input, Output, and Assignment Desk teams to ensure thorough news reporting.
- Compose clear, accurate, and compelling news articles suitable for television and digital platforms.
- Maintain awareness of current events and proactively source potential stories.
- Adhere strictly to editorial codes, ethics of journalism, and factual integrity.
- Represent Republic Bangla professionally in dealings with government officials, political figures, public representatives, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Possession of a bachelor's or master's degree specializing in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related fields.
- Professional experience of 2 to 8 years in television news reporting or journalism.
- In-depth knowledge of current affairs, political landscape, governance, and regional issues.
- Excellent aptitude in news reporting, interviewing, and storytelling techniques.
- Capability to perform efficiently under pressure, particularly in breaking news scenarios.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in political, crime, business, or investigative journalism is advantageous.
- Well-established network among government entities, political organizations, law enforcement, and civic circles.
- Comfort working in a high-speed, round-the-clock newsroom setting.
