About the Role
Southern Cross Central Lakes Hospital, located in the heart of Queenstown with picturesque alpine surroundings, provides an opportunity to embark on a fulfilling healthcare career while enjoying a vibrant community and outdoor lifestyle. The hospital offers extensive specialty surgery services for both public and private patients, supported by a partnership between Southern Cross Healthcare and Central Lakes Trust.
As a Loans Coordinator, you will be instrumental in supporting the Theatre and Sterile Services departments by managing the availability, processing, and handling of surgical loan sets, implants, and consignment equipment to ensure seamless patient care. Close collaboration with suppliers, theatre staff, and clinical teams is essential to guarantee that equipment is received, inspected, tracked, and returned according to quality assurance, infection control, and sterilisation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate both incoming and outgoing loan equipment efficiently.
- Communicate proactively with suppliers to monitor and manage timelines.
- Reconcile inventory records and maintain precise documentation.
- Support the continuous flow of surgical services by ensuring equipment availability and compliance with safety standards.
Required Skills and Experience
- Background in Sterile Services, operating theatre, or related healthcare settings.
- Strong organisational abilities with effective prioritisation and time management.
- High focus on detail, quality, and safeguarding patient safety.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer systems.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
- Willingness and flexibility to work shifts Monday through Friday, totaling 60 to 80 hours every fortnight.
- Customer-oriented approach and dedication to ongoing improvement.
- Knowledge of sterile services processes, infection control, and quality standards is a plus.
- Previous experience specifically as a Loans Coordinator is advantageous but not mandatory.
- While a Level 4 Sterile Services Qualification is not mandatory at hiring, acceptance to pursue this qualification as part of development is required.
