Job description
Overview
The Lifeguard role at Celebration Key in East Grand Bahama is focused on guaranteeing the safety of all guests around aquatic zones at Half Moon Cay. This position entails monitoring swimmers, enforcing safety regulations, and responding quickly to emergencies, including performing rescues and administering first aid. Lifeguards will function collaboratively within a team and report directly to their supervisor.
Core Responsibilities
- Keep constant watch over swimmers and guests in designated water areas.
- Ensure all safety rules and procedures are strictly followed.
- Alert patrons about unsafe conduct and ensure adherence to water safety regulations.
- Maintain professionalism to foster a secure environment.
- Respond to emergencies by rescuing distressed swimmers.
- Provide first aid, CPR, and artificial respiration as needed.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions to sustain lifesaving certifications.
- Report incidents, hazards, and unsafe behaviors promptly to supervisors.
- Inspect aquatic facilities and equipment to verify safety and operability.
- Assist in cleaning and upkeep of equipment and workspaces.
- Set up and store lifeguard equipment daily.
- Comply with environmental and housekeeping policies.
- Attend ongoing service and safety trainings as scheduled.
- Assist in opening and closing of swim areas.
- Complete other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills and Attributes

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED along with experience in customer-facing roles.
- Ability to pass a practical pre-employment swimming skills test.
- Competence swimming in diverse water conditions.
- Skill in assessing aquatic activity participants for safety risks and capabilities.
- Understanding of safety policies and onsite emergency protocols.
- Knowledge of emergency medical techniques for lifesaving situations.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Physical ability to stand outdoors for long durations and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Physically capable of participating in emergency drills with full range of motion and sensory abilities.
