Lifeguard

Position Overview

The Lifeguard is responsible for monitoring swimming areas to identify and assist swimmers requiring help, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment. This role involves enforcing facility rules, observing for hazardous conditions or unsafe behavior, and providing aid to injured guests until emergency services arrive.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Utilize proper rescue methods for swimmers in distress.
• Maintain vigilance over the swimming facility to detect dangerous situations or struggling swimmers.
• Communicate facility rules clearly to promote safety.
• Inform supervisors if guests appear unable to safely participate in activities.
• Assist injured guests until medical personnel reach the scene.
• Foster a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere for guests.
• Handle towels in accordance with company guidelines, including obtaining, folding, and stacking.
• Perform cleaning duties such as washing, mopping, and maintaining pool deck cleanliness.
• Report incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management promptly.
• Complete all required safety trainings and certifications.
• Adhere to company policies, safeguard confidential information, and protect assets.
• Welcome guests warmly, maintain a professional appearance, and assist guests including those with disabilities.
• Communicate in a clear, professional manner and support coworkers respectfully.
• Meet quality assurance standards and promptly address job safety by inspecting equipment.
• Be physically capable of various activities including standing or walking for long periods, lifting or moving objects up to and beyond 50 pounds with assistance, and navigating uneven or slippery terrain.
• Perform additional reasonable duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• No prior related work experience necessary.
• No supervisory experience required.

Required Certifications

• CPR Certification
• First Aid Certification
• Any fitness equipment certification or local/state-required training.
