Junior IT Administrator

Role Overview

This role is based in Gurugram and requires a full-time commitment with working hours aligned to the US shift (7 PM to 4 AM IST). The Junior IT Administrator will provide critical IT support, managing desktops, laptops, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory. The position also involves device management through Intune and assistance with firewall, VPN, and IT security tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver daily support for desktop computers, laptops, printers, and peripherals to end users.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to hardware, software, OS, networks, Outlook, and Microsoft 365.
• Install, configure, patch and maintain Windows desktops and laptops; assemble PCs, upgrade hardware, install OS, and support system imaging and deployment.
• Handle user onboarding and offboarding with attention to IT access and equipment management.
• Keep IT asset inventory and documentation accurate and up to date.
• Manage Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Exchange.
• Create and modify user accounts, groups, permissions, and policies within Active Directory.
• Support device enrollment, compliance, and configuration via Microsoft Intune.
• Assist with email configuration, Outlook troubleshooting, mailbox access, distribution groups, and multi-factor authentication support.
• Support basic firewall operations, ideally with familiarity in Sophos firewall administration.
• Help with VPN setup, access controls, firewall policy enforcement, and rule management.
• Monitor endpoint security measures including patching, device compliance, and overall IT security best practices.
• Provide assistance with WordPress website updates, plugin management, and minor content edits; utilize basic HTML/CSS skills for formatting and small-scale website changes.
• Support internal design and marketing activities using tools such as Canva and Photoshop.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or an equivalent field; or comparable practical experience.
• 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in IT administration or desktop support.
• Proficient knowledge of Windows operating systems, PC hardware, Microsoft 365 suite, Active Directory, and Outlook.
• Experience working with Microsoft Intune or similar endpoint and device management platforms.
• Basic knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, networking troubleshooting, and IT security concepts.
• Strong independent problem-solving skills and capability to resolve user issues promptly.
• Effective communication skills with a customer service-focused approach.

Preferred Experience and Competencies

• Experience administering Sophos firewalls is desirable.
• Familiarity with SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Exchange Online administration.
• Experience in PC imaging, deployment automation, and asset management.
• Basic WordPress management and HTML/CSS knowledge.
• Exposure to design applications such as Canva or Photoshop.
• Strong technical troubleshooting, multi-tasking, attention to detail, self-motivation, initiative, teamwork, and a security-conscious mindset are essential.
