About the Role
We are seeking candidates based in the Philippines for the position of Junior Accountant. This role operates fully remotely and involves regular collaboration with a Sydney-based team. The candidate must be available during Australian Eastern Standard Time business hours (approximately 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for meetings and check-ins.
The engagement will be under an Independent Contractor Agreement with compensation ranging between 2500 to 3500 Australian Dollars per month.

The client is a boutique accounting firm located in Sydney, Australia, specializing in taxation, accounting, and advisory services for privately owned businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and family groups. The firm emphasizes strategic tax planning, handling complex business structures, and fostering long-term relationships. The operation is fully cloud-based, encouraging initiative and autonomy. Several team members currently work remotely from the Philippines.
Role Summary
As a Junior Accountant with experience in Australian public practice, you will manage day-to-day accounting and compliance functions. The key functions include bookkeeping, payroll processing, preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), financial reporting, and tax return preparation. You will support senior accountants and directors to deliver precise and timely accounting services across multiple Australian business clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare company and individual income tax returns.
- Compile and lodge BAS and IAS forms timely.
- Perform bookkeeping duties and execute bank reconciliations for various Australian clients.
- Manage payroll processing ensuring compliance with Australian payroll regulations.
- Prepare working papers and documentation supporting financial statements.
- Maintain accurate records using cloud-based accounting platforms.
- Assist senior accountants with month-end and year-end compliance procedures.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams to ensure timely client deliverables.
- Handle multiple client files simultaneously, meeting deadlines with high accuracy standards.
Candidate Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in an Australian public practice accounting firm.
- Demonstrated expertise in preparing company and individual tax returns.
- Experience in BAS, IAS, bookkeeping, payroll, and financial statement preparation.
- Proficient in using Xero accounting software across multiple clients.
- Experience with Active Work Papers or equivalent workpaper software is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Carbon or similar practice management systems is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of Australian taxation and accounting standards.
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Organized, detail-focused, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a remote environment.
