Job description

Role Overview

We are in search of a seasoned and strategic IT Manager to spearhead the planning, deployment, operation, and ongoing enhancement of IT within our Business Unit. This individual will oversee the IT strategy and roadmap, ensuring effective governance through the Business Unit IT Council while delivering robust, secure, and business-aligned IT services within defined resource, time, and budget limits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and refine the Business Unit’s IT strategy aligning with business objectives and regional IT guidance.
  • Collaborate closely with the Management Team and departmental leaders to grasp business needs and recommend IT solutions that enhance performance and value creation.
  • Lead and nurture the IT team by structuring resources appropriately, ensuring skill development, and monitoring performance.
  • Organize and preside over Business Unit IT Council meetings to ensure sound governance, transparent communication, and informed decision-making.
  • Maintain productive relationships with Scania IT, regional IT leaders, suppliers, dealers, customers if relevant, and internal departments like sales, services, and parts.
  • Manage IT security protocols, information security controls, disaster recovery plans, backup processes, audit compliance, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Handle the IT budget, encompassing forecasting, expenditure management, variance assessments, corrective interventions, and supervising service level agreements with vendors.
  • Encourage innovation, digital transformation, and continuous improvement while documenting and sharing best practices across teams.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Scania's principles, standards, policies, safety, health, environmental requirements, and governance frameworks.

Qualifications and Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Informatics, Management Information Systems, or related field.
  • Master’s degree such as MBA or Masters in Information Systems is highly preferred, especially for strategic and cross-functional roles.
  • 7 to over 10 years of progressive experience in IT or digital domains, including a minimum of 3 to 5 years in managerial or project leadership roles.
  • Expertise in leading distributed, multi-regional teams and handling complex enterprise-wide transformation or technology initiatives.
  • Relevant certifications like PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum Master, SAFe, ITIL 4, TOGAF, cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP), or AI/data transformation are valued.

Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Comprehensive knowledge of IT strategy, service governance, IT operations, security, risk, and supplier management.
  • Competence in technical management, data analysis, and expertise in hardware and software systems.
  • Familiarity with ITIL and IT architectural concepts.
  • Experience with cloud-based architectures including hybrid and multi-cloud and global network infrastructures.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies such as automation, AI, and digital transformation integration.
  • Knowledge of enterprise applications including SAP S/4HANA, Salesforce, or equivalent ERP/CRM systems.
  • Expertise in cybersecurity, data governance, compliance, zero-trust security models, and data sovereignty laws.
  • Ability to leverage reporting and analytics tools like Power BI and Tableau to support data-driven decisions.

  • Experience in managing finances, contracts, service levels, and optimizing IT expenses.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.
