About the Role
The City of Perth is seeking a dedicated Heavy Plant Operator to join their Infrastructure and Operations team, specifically within Trades, Works & Services at the Osborne Park Depot. This full-time, permanent position offers a competitive annual salary of $79,176 plus superannuation. This role plays a vital part in maintaining Perth's cleanliness and safety by operating specialised waste collection and street cleaning machinery across the city.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate various heavy machinery including refuse trucks, road and footpath sweepers, water trucks, and front-end loaders.
- Perform waste collection, street cleaning, litter clearance, and respond to illegal dumping throughout the city.
- Set up traffic management signage to ensure safe work environments and comply with all relevant safety protocols.
- Complete routine operational tasks such as equipment inspections, basic reporting, and deliver professional public service.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven extensive experience operating heavy plant or specialised equipment within waste management, cleaning, or civil works sectors.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety standards, especially while working in public areas.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Effective communication skills and pride in delivering dependable, quality services.
- Possession of a current HR Driver's Licence.
- Physical capability to meet the demands of the role.
- Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and varying shifts as needed.
