Role Overview
The Head of Learning and Talent will shape organisational capability, talent growth, and performance through the Functional Academy framework. The role calls for designing competency-led learning journeys, building future-ready skills, and encouraging continuous learning across the organisation. It also involves leading talent review, succession planning, and high-potential development so workforce capability stays aligned with business priorities and future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Create the vision, strategy, and operating structure for the Functional Academy.
- Build competency models for important business functions and define role-wise skill assessments and matrices.
- Work with business leaders and subject matter experts to design, validate, and refine learning initiatives.
- Develop learning pathways that support career progression and competency growth.
- Lead blended learning solutions that combine classroom sessions, digital modules, workshops, and on-the-job learning.
- Oversee curriculum design, instructional development, and learning content creation.
- Review learning interventions regularly to keep them relevant, high quality, and scalable across locations.
- Run talent identification and assessment processes to spot high performers and high-potential employees.
- Build and maintain succession plans for critical positions and future leadership roles.
- Support leadership development programs for emerging and senior leaders.
- Create development plans for high-potential talent to prepare them for future responsibilities.
- Partner with business leaders to assess talent pipelines and bench strength.
- Assess, select, and implement learning management systems and digital learning tools.
- Promote technology-enabled learning and virtual delivery approaches.
- Define learning KPIs, metrics, and ROI measurement methods.
- Prepare learning analytics reports to monitor effectiveness and learner progress.
- Use data insights to improve learning design and delivery continuously.
- Identify organisational capability gaps and create targeted interventions.
- Lead skill-building efforts across key functional areas.
- Support change management and capability enablement during organisational transformation.
- Strengthen internal training capability by creating trainer and facilitator development programs.
- Set up knowledge-sharing and peer-learning platforms.
Education
An MBA in HR from XLRI, TISS, SIBM, SCMHRD, MDI, or another reputed HR institute is required. Only candidates from the 2017 and 2018 batches are eligible.
Experience
Candidates should bring 8 to 10 years of total work experience, including at least 3 years in learning and development, talent management, or organisational development. The role also requires 3+ years of experience leading teams. Prior exposure to competency frameworks, learning journeys, talent review, succession planning, leadership development, LMS platforms, digital learning, and large or multi-location organisations is expected.
