About the Role

Student Job Search (SJS) is New Zealand's primary service connecting students with work opportunities to alleviate financial hardship and build career pathways. Since 1982, SJS has aided over a million students in securing employment that empowers their studies and long-term success. Funded by the Ministry of Social Development and supported by donors and partners, SJS continues to expand its support network for students nationwide.

Position Overview

In this position, reporting directly to the Head of Fundraising, Marketing & Communications, you will play a pivotal part in enhancing support for SJS by growing awareness, engagement, and financial backing. Your responsibilities include managing grants, donor relations, supporter engagement, and campaign fundraising to secure sustainable funding.

The role benefits from an established fundraising strategy, specialist assistance, and systems, ready for you to take charge, energize progress, and activate initiatives effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tell powerful stories that demonstrate the impact of SJS
  • Develop and submit funding proposals and donor communications
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with funders and supporters
  • Create stewardship experiences that promote ongoing involvement and financial support
  • Use CRM systems for data management, reporting, and fundraising performance analysis

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates are excellent communicators skilled in relationship management and fundraising, with a passion for social impact and storytelling. You will bring experience in philanthropy, donor engagement, partnerships, or communications, alongside proven success in generating fundraising income.

  • Strong writing skills for persuasive funding applications and reports
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results efficiently
  • Organisational strength and attention to detail, especially regarding CRM data accuracy
  • Experience within employment, education, youth, or social impact sectors is advantageous

This permanent position is based in Wellington CBD. While a full-time commitment is preferred, flexible scheduling and part-time hours can be considered.
