Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and support fullstack web applications with Node.js, React, and closely related tools.
• Create backend services and APIs that are built for scale, dependable performance, and long-term maintainability.
• Build modern, responsive user interfaces that provide a smooth and intuitive experience.
• Take part in architecture conversations and help shape microservices and service-based system design.
• Produce clean, efficient, readable code and keep it well documented according to engineering standards.

• Work closely with product, engineering, and other teams to deliver valuable solutions.
• Contribute to API design, documentation, integration, and performance tuning across services.

Requirements

• Solid professional experience with JavaScript, including ES6+ features and modern development approaches.
• Practical experience building backend applications with Node.js and frameworks such as Express.js.
• Strong experience creating contemporary frontend applications with React or comparable frameworks.
• Comfort working end to end across frontend and backend development.
• Hands-on knowledge of MongoDB, including data modeling, query optimization, and performance awareness.
• Working knowledge of Elasticsearch for search, analytics, and data retrieval use cases.
• Experience with test tools such as Jest, Mocha, or Jasmine.
• Understanding of microservices and service-oriented architecture principles.
• Experience creating or using API documentation/specifications with Swagger/OpenAPI or similar tools.
• Practical exposure to Docker and containerized environments.
• Strong grasp of software engineering best practices, clean code, and technical documentation.
• Strong problem-solving ability, curiosity, initiative, and enthusiasm for technology.
• Professional English skills at B2 level or higher.
• Ability to work according to Portugal business hours, regardless of where you are located.
• Nice-to-have experience with TypeScript, Go, GraphQL, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, CI/CD, message brokers, observability, or security practices.
• Prior exposure to insurance, fintech, or other regulated environments is an advantage.

Eligibility

This role is intended for professionals based in Germany. Candidates should be able to work remotely while aligning with Portugal business hours. Professional English proficiency at B2 level or above is required.
