Freelance Copywriter

About the Role

John Hardy is seeking a Freelance Junior Copywriter to contribute on-brand, engaging copy that drives performance for their creative team. This role is remote and based around the New York City metropolitan area. Reporting to the Senior Copywriter, the selected candidate will collaborate with creative, merchandise, and site teams to craft and maintain compelling copy for the johnhardy.com website and wholesale accounts. The work will include enhancing user experience through site copy, seasonal product descriptions, and product naming.

Responsibilities

• Develop product descriptions and names for johnhardy.com and wholesale platform listings.
• Assist the site team by producing user experience copy such as FAQs, shipping and return policies, and size guides.
• Create loyalty and clienteling messages supporting John Hardy boutiques.
• Compose paid advertising copy for social media channels including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
• Craft invitations and newsletters for global and wholesale events and trunk shows.
• Oversee daily quality assurance for site content, email communications, and SMS messaging.
• Act as the lead proofreader for the creative team, conducting line edits and proofing all marketing assets prior to release.
• Maintain a comprehensive copy database including product descriptions, product and franchise names, and other relevant attributes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Fashion Communications, Creative Writing, English, or another Humanities discipline, supported by verifiable writing experience.
• Two to four years of digital copywriting or editorial writing experience, with a preference for background in fashion or luxury sectors.
• A portfolio showcasing writing capabilities.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently.
