Role Purpose

In this role, you will showcase your passion and skill in delivering unique culinary experiences, ensuring every guest interaction is emotionally engaging and meets luxury standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver prompt, friendly, and professional service to all guests.
  • Provide attentive and customized service by anticipating guest expectations and establishing genuine connections.
  • Craft and serve a variety of espresso and specialty coffee drinks to high luxury standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of coffee varieties, roasting techniques, brewing processes, and menu details to advise guests effectively.
  • Engage proactively with customers to create memorable and premium service moments.
  • Accurately take orders, repeat them to confirm with guests, and maximize sales through product knowledge.
  • Be confident and knowledgeable about the food and beverage offerings.
  • Apply emotional intelligence to make guest experiences exceptional.
  • Support barista duties and assist behind the bar as needed.
  • Prepare for shift handovers effectively and ensure all consumables are replenished at shift end.
  • Relay customer and staff feedback to management.
  • Clearly write order dockets for kitchen and cashier efficiency.
  • Process orders and transactions using the point-of-sale system with integrity and accuracy.
  • Ensure timely delivery of orders to the kitchen and then to guests, maintaining food temperature and presentation standards.
  • Maintain clean and tidy tables and service areas following procedural guidelines.
  • Uphold hygienic standards during food service.
  • Take ownership of assigned sections and stations.
  • Deliver room service orders and set up and clear trays and trolleys properly.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture and support fellow food and beverage staff.
  • Respond professionally to guest feedback and escalate issues promptly to management.
  • Promote sustainability practices, including responsible sourcing and minimizing single-use waste, aligned with company policies.
  • Occasionally assist other hotel departments as required.

  • Customer-oriented with a warm and caring nature.
  • Dependable, punctual, and responsible for workspace and role.
  • Collaborative and enthusiastic team player thriving in a dynamic environment.
  • Embodies a spirit of heart, care, and skill in all interactions.
  • Knowledge of wines, spirits, and cocktail preparation is a plus.
  • Available to work weekends, public holidays, and flexible shifts on a seven-day roster.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least one year of experience in a luxury hotel or fine dining setting.
  • Barista skills or specialty coffee training highly valued.
  • Passionate about hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills presented in a warm and professional manner.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and pride in consistent presentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume environment.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Holding a barista certification or similar training is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Must have valid New Zealand work rights or be eligible to obtain the necessary visa.
