Floor Care Associate

Overview

This position involves maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all floor surfaces and restrooms to ensure a safe and welcoming environment. The role aims to boost customer confidence and loyalty by consistently applying company standards and complying with regulations. Additionally, this role supports diversity and inclusiveness within the team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain orderliness and eliminate safety hazards in sales floors, liquor stores, office areas, breakrooms, backrooms, training rooms, and restrooms, dedicating roughly 70% of time to these tasks.
• Operate floor care machinery and department tools, including the use of cleaning chemicals; sweep and vacuum mats and rugs, restore them to original positions; remove carpet stains; manage waste disposal and perform deep restroom cleaning.
• Create a positive shopping atmosphere by making customers feel welcome and appreciated, contributing to increased customer loyalty, approximately 15% of the role.
• Adhere to corporate expectations for cleanliness and sanitation daily and assist customers by guiding or recommending products.
• Ensure safety, proper food handling, sanitation, and productivity standards are upheld, including compliance with USDA, COOL, and Department of Agriculture regulations, representing about 15% of responsibilities.
• Execute product recalls and withdrawals promptly while securing affected items; reinforce safety protocols through inspections and risk reporting; inform management about customer or employee incidents; investigate and report any illegal activities.
• Comply with wage and hour policies and foster a safety-conscious atmosphere among colleagues; ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and equipment maintenance, reporting hazards as necessary.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Authorization to work legally in the United States or eligibility to obtain such authorization.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and background verification.
• Strong customer service aptitude complemented by excellent interpersonal, motivational, and communication abilities.
• Preferably a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• English language proficiency required; Spanish language skills desirable.
• Experience: Between none to three years, supervisory experience is a plus but not mandatory.

Working Environment and Physical Demands

• Work frequently involves standing, walking on diverse floor types, manual dexterity tasks, speaking, seeing, hearing, smelling, and repetitive motions of hands and feet.
• Physical duties include reaching (waist-level and above), lifting up to 50 lbs regularly, carrying, pushing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing up to 30 feet, and pulling loads up to 250 lbs.
• Exposure to varying indoor and outdoor conditions (cold, heat, humidity), slippery or cluttered floors, hazardous equipment and substances, including cleaning toxins and irritants.
• Standard use of cleaning tools and general office equipment along with material handling machinery is required; familiarity with balers, compactors, and box cutters is advantageous.
• Required personal protective equipment includes gloves, goggles, and back braces.

• Travel requirements are minimal and typically non-overnight.
