Flight Dispatcher

Role Overview

Based at London City Airport, the Flight Dispatcher role involves carefully executing assigned tasks with professionalism and punctuality. The primary focus is to maintain the highest levels of safety and security while adhering to commercial decisions related to flight operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare weight and balance documents using Departure Control System (DCS) or manual paperwork as required.
• Generate necessary loading documentation for flights, including manual paperwork when needed.
• Ensure flight closure adheres to the individual airline's requirements.
• Coordinate Sky Handling Partner (SHP) staff during aircraft turnaround and maintain regular communication with gate dispatchers to update the load plan (LMC) as needed.
• Provide coverage for Operations control duties.
• Strictly follow SHP’s health, safety, and security protocols.
• Implement internal procedural updates as directed by management.
• Comply with updated external procedures from Airlines and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
• Complete additional tasks assigned by the Duty Manager.
• Arrive adequately before flight arrivals to prepare for dispatch.
• Perform all required preparations for flight dispatch and ensure timely delivery of relevant flight documentation to the appropriate departments or organizations.
• Ensure all flight files are comprehensively completed with all pertinent data included.
• Supervise and coordinate third-party service providers involved in the turnaround process, such as catering, fueling, cleaning, and other external services, ensuring adherence to SHP and airline standards.
• Assist with passenger requests during arrivals.
• Manage departure boarding control and securely coordinate passenger movement between the aircraft and terminal.
• Present passengers to relevant authorities when required.
• Additional duties may be assigned periodically.

Working Hours and Compensation

The position requires a part-time commitment of approximately 87 hours per month, with varied shift patterns including early, late, and split shifts. The pay rate is set at £16.15 per hour.

Candidate Requirements

• At least two years of experience in the aviation sector.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficient computer skills and solid numerical aptitude.
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts and to adapt during operational disruptions.
• Capacity to operate effectively under pressure to ensure safe and efficient aircraft turnarounds.
• Ability to work independently while following company guidelines.
